One of the main reasons console gamers buy Xbox consoles has always been Xbox Live and the Xbox Achievements system, which lets gamers compete against each other over a wide range of titles and have somewhat of an addictive element.

It seems however you will soon be able to reap Achievements even if you game on another console, as website TrueAchievements has discovered gamers will have access to 79 achievements worth a total of 1,750 Gamerscore on the Nintendo Switch.

This is courtesy of Microsoft’s very cross-platform Minecraft game, which is available on just about every device. At this point, it is not clear if this is a harbinger of something more or something which is specific to Minecraft itself.

We can, however, envision Microsoft, which is more focused on services than devices, finding a way to earn revenue even from games not being played on their platforms.

The full list of Achievements can be seen here.
