Microsoft today announced a new specific configuration of Windows 10 Pro called Windows 10 S that is streamlined for security and performance. Windows 10 S users will be limited to apps in the Windows Store to ensure smooth and secure performance all the time.

In addition to this app restriction, there is another important thing to note. Microsoft Edge is the default web browser on Windows 10 S and you cannot change it. Even though Microsoft will allow users to download another browser that might be available from the Windows Store, Microsoft Edge will remain the default.

Also, the default search provider in Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer cannot be changed. Bing will remain the default provider on both these browsers in most countries and in some countries, it will have designated regional search providers.

With these restrictions, Microsoft believes users can browse safely with Microsoft Edge and Windows 10 S can keep them running fast and secure day in and day out.
