ChatGPT's updated custom instructions

ChatGPT’s (updated) custom instructions, which let you tailor how the AI chatbot responds to your queries, are now launching in Europe.

OpenAI said that ChatGPT’s custom instructions are now available to folks in the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland on ChatGPT’s web and Windows desktop apps.

OpenAI launched ChatGPT’s updated custom instructions feature not too long ago.

The update brought a new user interface, which lets you more easily customize how ChatGPT responds, including selecting desired traits, communication style, and rules to follow. The new UI will also be coming soon to macOS desktop and mobile platforms.

But if you already have existing custom instructions, you will most likely see no changes to their current settings.

At its initial launch back in 2023, ChatGPT’s custom instructions were initially available to paid Plus plan users. Besides, you could use the feature with plugins to make the interactions better, though the feature may not always interpret instructions perfectly.

“ChatGPT will consider your custom instructions for every conversation going forward. The model will consider the instructions every time it responds, so you wonโ€™t have to repeat your preferences or information in every conversation,” OpenAI describes the feature.

Still from OpenAI-related news, the AI company has now partnered with the US National Laboratories to improve scientific research by deploying its latest reasoning models, such as the o1 series, on the Venado supercomputer at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

In their own words, it’s to “strengthen America’s AI leadership.” That, honestly feels like the Space Race and Sputnik all over again after Chinese DeepSeek’s arrival in the AI race disrupted the US market by far.
