Microsoft is planning to release Windows Work Folders on-demand file access feature in the next Windows 10 release (RS4). This feature will allow enterprise users to access all of their files on Windows 10 when using an enterprise managed file server with Work Folders. They can also control which files are stored on their PC and available offline. Similar to OneDrive Files on Demand feature, all the files are always visible and donโt take up any space on your PC.
If youโre interested in checking out the on-demand file access feature for Work Folders, install Windows 10 build 17063 or later.
You can enable it by using the following methods,
- Work Folders setup wizard:ย When configuring Work Folders on a PC, verify theย Enable on-demand file access on this PCย setting is selected in the setup wizard.
- Work Folders control panel applet:ย If Work Folders is currently configured on a PC, open the Work Folders control panel applet and select theย Enable on-demand file accessย setting.
- Work Folders group policy setting:ย Administrators can control the on-demand file access feature on PCs by setting theย On-demand file access preferenceย group policy setting.
