Comscore has released some numbers showing that Windows Mobile is still far from irrelevant in Europe.

While the Nokia still dominates the market there, with 54.4% of the market, amongst the rest Windows Mobile is second only to the iPhone in general, with around 19 vs 12%.  In Spain and Italy, Windows Mobile is in fact the second biggest mobile OS, with 11.4 vs 9.8% in Italy, and 11.9 vs 8.6% in Spain.

Overall in Europe RIM and Android only have 8% and 6% respectively of the market.

The study, which is from July 2010, does bode well for Microsoft’s chances at the end of the year, suggesting the market is not as dominated by iPhone or Android as one may suspect from reading US media, where Windows Mobile only has 3.2% of the market.
