Here is something I thought I would never see. We have seen some official lists of devices that will get the Windows Mobile 6.5 update, but of course the vast majority of current and older generation devices wont, and in the main it will only be through the efforts of XDA-Developers that the OS will come to these devices.
XDA-Developers are of course exclusively HTC focussed, so I never expected to see older non-HTC devices like the HP 610c getting the update, but it seems I was quite wrong.
Keyx on XDA-Dev has cooked up a ROM which brings the new OS, and all its benefits, both cosmetic and functional, to the HP 610c/612c/614c family of devices. This is of course great news, and suggests that the community may need to consider a “No PocketPC left behind†effort to bring the possibility of an unofficial ROM upgrade to all devices that are capable, not just the select few the OEM chooses.
