Microsoft has recently shipped a new Windows 11 beta build for Windows 11 Insiders. Build 27788 is now live for users in the Canary channel, but not without a potential crash on your Settings app.
The Redmond tech giant says that the Home page of Settings on your Windows 11 may crash after installing this build. Though, as the documentation says, you can still open specific Settings pages directly by searching for them from the taskbar.
Though, this update also revamps Windows 11’s Settings app.
The Settings homepage is now being rolled out for commercial customers on managed PCs. It will show cards like “Recommended settings” and “Bluetooth devices,” plus new ones for device info and accessibility. If you use both work/school and Microsoft accounts on your PC, you’ll see a new accounts card, starting with users who have both types of accounts.
A lot of interesting new updates are also in the mix. Microsoft finally shipped the first-ever public preview of Windows MIDI Service, just decades away after MIDI became the music industry’s standard.
The new Windows 11 beta build also lets you resume editing OneDrive files from your iOS or Android phone to your PC within five minutes. The feature has previously been tested last year in the Beta channel and arrived not too long ago for Windows 11’s 22H2 and 23H2 versions.
Other than that, File Explorer now restores open tabs after logging in, among other improvements and fixes here and there.
