Windows 10 Redstone 5 is Windows 10 version 1809

Microsoft today released a new build of Windows 10 Redstone 5 to insiders on the fast ring. This new build doesn’t add many new features and just includes some slight refinement to your phone. What this build does add however is the official version number for the next build of Windows, and that’s version 1809.

Microsoft often versions Windows builds according to the month and year of release, so the first two digits correspond to the year and the last two to the month. Buy this rubric, Windows 10 Version 1809 is the Windows 10 September Update. Microsoft could change the date and version numbers in future updates, or something similar.

Microsoft is likely to announce the next release of Windows 10 in the next few months, with the 19H1 update coming in the first half of 2019.
