In September 2018 Microsoft confirmed that Windows 10 is now installed on 700 million actively used PCs.

Since then, Windows 10 has managed to overtake the installed base of Windows 7 and today Microsoft confirmed that there are now 800 million PC users on Windows 10.

The number was confirmed by  Corporate Vice President of Modern Life & Devices Yusuf Mehdi who posted:

“Thank you to all our customers and partners for helping us achieve 800 million #Windows10 devices and the highest customer satisfaction in the history of Windows.”

The number is still shy of Microsoft’s 2015 target of 1 billion devices running Windows 10 by 2018, but given that the PC installed base seems relatively stable it appears they will get there eventually, particularly after enterprise users are forced to upgrade from Windows 7 due to the impending end of support early next year.
