It’s been nearly a year since Microsoft introduced the new Chromium-based Edge and companies have now started dropping support for the older browser.

If you try to run WhatsApp Web on EdgeHTML Edge the company now tell you to upgrade to a newer browser.

The message reads:

“To use WhatsApp, update Windows 10 to get the latest version of Microsoft Edge or use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Opera,”

Dropping support for EdgeHTML, of course, means one less browser to test on, and we wonder how long support for Firefox, which is falling in market share, will remain.

Microsoft will soon be force upgrading legacy Edge to their new Chromium-based browser, which will likely make life easier for developers around the world.
