WeChat is adding yet another near identical app to its growing stable of identical WeChat for Windows 10 apps.
First spotted here, the new app is called WeChat UWP, distinct for WeChat for Windows 10, WeChat and WeChat for Windows. In terms of design, it is slightly different from the WeChat app, missing the hamburger menu which is normally to the bottom right. Otherwise, it appears functionally similar.
Here’s what the app offers:.
- Send text, photos, files messages and playback audio messages in chats
- View Sight, animated stickers and real-time location shared by friends
- Search articles from Official Accounts
- Designed for the Windows 10 Universal Platform
It’s worth noting that while the app link says that it’s compatible with mobile, it didn’t download with either of my Windows phones. It also lists support for HoloLens and Surface Hub.
