Did you realise E3 is next week? We did because everything is leaking once again! The latest game announcement to be spoiled before E3 2019 is Ubisoft’s upcoming Watch Dogs Legion.
Leaked by Amazon UK, Watch Dogs Legion is the third entry in Ubisoft’s hacker-themed open-world series.
The official description reads as so:
“Play as anyone. Every individual you meet in the open world, has a full set of animations, voice over, character traits and visuals that are generated & guided by gameplay systems.”
Amazon’s leak was confirmed by Kotaku US with Jason Schreier stating that development has been causing the developers “a lot of headaches”.
VG24/7 also has their own information. Allegedly, each NPC will have procedurally generated backstories and the game is directed by Far Cry 2 director Clint Hocking.
That last point is especially interesting. With a game as systemic in nature as this is aiming to be, it echoes back to the intrinsically linked world of Far Cry 2. As impressive as that game was for the last generation, perhaps Watch Dogs Legion can be for this one. It would be a fantastic send-off for the generation.
Just two years ago, Watch Dogs 2 was also leaked before its announcement. In fact, Ubisoft has a bad history of constant leaks, including its most recent game announcement, Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
