Google might be working on a new dock which will allow users to dock their phones and use it as a smart speaker. The leak comes from the source code of the latest Google app beta which points at a string about a “Pixel Stand.”
The code talks about what to show on the screen when you dock your device on the Pixel Stand. The dock will also access your personal information and Google Assistant to give your proper recommendations. Following are the lines in the code:
<string name=”trusted_dock_action_text”>I Agree</string>
<string name=”trusted_dock_cancel_text”>No thanks</string>
<string name=”trusted_dock_message”>Your Assistant can use your personal info to make suggestions, answer questions, and take actions for you when your phone is locked and on your Pixel Stand</string>
<string name=”trusted_dock_title”>Get personalized help when your phone is on your Pixel Stand</string>
Google has dropped a hint of a possible dock in the Android P beta as well. If Google plans to make the said device available in the market then it could give Google the upper hand over Amazon in the Smart Speaker market.
