Streaming media from your own computer can be a useful way of getting around the low storage in many Windows Phone 7 handsets.

Wheresmybeaver on XDA-Developers has discovered that TVersity is a great media server which allows viewing many media types via its web browser based interface, with the client working over both WIFI and 3G.  The software has the advantage of transcoding media on the fly, meaning it does not matter what format your video is in (as long as its not protected), it should still play as simple MP4’s on your phone, using the Zune media player.

The software, which is free, does have some disadvantage however, with the web user interface not exactly designed for the small screen.
