Google just dropped a bomb shell in the Android ecosystem. They just announced their acquisition of Motorola Mobility. If you missed the Google’s announcement, find it here. Its very clear from the blog post that Google’s idea was to use Motorola as the weapon against Microsoft and Apple in IP battle. But will they succeed in their idea? But I think, this is the only thing Google can do at last to protect its Android OEM’s. As Florian Muller, FOSS Patents blogger tweets,
Leaving the battle of Google with Apple and Microsoft, what about other Android OEM’s. Will they be happy with Google making their own hardware and selling it and competing with their partners? We should wait for the response from OEM’s like LG, Samsung, etc. So one thing is confirmed for now, No more Motorola Windows Phone rumors and speculations. Lets see how industry reacts.
