Windows Phone 8.1 has a vulnerability where it will allow you to substitute one app for another when the app is stored on the microSD card. WindowsMania.pl reports that when the hack is used to change the identity of your Windows Phone from say a Nokia Lumia 520 to a Lumia 930 you are able to install Microsoft’s new Hyperlapse app without issue, despite the app only being available for high-end handsets.
To enable the hack you need to navigate to System>Platform>DeviceTargetingInfo and change the value of:
PhoneManufacturer to Nokia
PhoneManufacturerModelName to RM-1045_1009
PhoneModelName to Lumia 930
Its probably a good idea to take a note of the original values and change these back after the app has been installed and run.
WindowsMania reports the hack even works on the HTC 8S and other Windows Reference Design devices.
