We now have another evidence that Apple is slowly moving away from Lightning to USB-C. With the newly announced iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max devices, Apple will be shipping the new 18W USB-C power adapter and USB-C to Lightning cable. This will allow MacBook Pro uses to use their power adapters for charging the new iPhone. They don’t have to carry two different power adapters anymore. Apple claims that you can get up to 50% charge in around 30 minutes with this new 18W adapter.

I hope Apple replaces the Lightning port in iPhone to USB-C port in the upcoming iPhones. It would further simplify the charging ecosystem for Apple devices. One sad news is that the new iPhone 11 still comes with the old USB-A power adapter and USB-A to Lightning cable.
