According to a release from Reuters and a post on Chinese microblogging website Weibo, Tencent Games and The Pokémon Company are set to work together to develop a new game.

The entire release from Reuters reads as follows:

China’s Tencent Games said on Monday that its Timi Studio will work with The Pokemon Company, a firm partially owned by Japan’s Nintendo, on developing a new game.

The firm did not provide specifics, including what type of a game will be developed and on what platform it will be published on.

Tencent is one of the largest video game companies in the world, with whole or partial ownership of many other game companies including 100% of Riot Games, 40% of Epic Games, 5% of Activision Blizzard, and 5% of Ubisoft.

The company also recently established a deal with Nintendo to bring the Nintendo Switch to China.

The Pokémon Company is responsible for the entire Pokémon franchise including the video games, trading card game, anime series, films, manga, merchandise, and other ventures.

It was established by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures, with all three companies each having 33% ownership of The Pokémon Company.

As the release states, there are currently no details available aside from the announcement of the partnership between the two companies. However, we’ll be sure to update when we get more information.
