One of the big reasons many abandoned Hotmail for Gmail in the early 2000’s was Hotmail’s ridiculous 2MB storage limit when Google offered unlimited storage.
WhatsApp also used to have a ridiculous 16 MB file transfer limit and appears to be very proud of increasing that to 100 MB.

While 100 MB may appear generous, in these days of phones recording 4K video it is rather stingy, especially when rival Telegram offers 1.5 GB, prompting a tweeter to ask Telegram to comment.

Hopefully, the gentle mocking will encourage WhatsApp to actually deliver a more competitive offering.
