Mozilla has finally started rolling out their Firefox extension recommendation experience to US Firefox users and unsurprisingly users are not happy.

In reddit thread in the /firefox subreddit users are demanding “Less of this please”:

Less of this please

“This kind of annoying sh*t should be opt in. As usual, they’ve a hard time understanding their audience”.

and

“I’m glad there is a way to opt-out, but it feels like I shouldn’t have to. The original release of Firefox Quantum was excellent. It feels like Firefox has slowly become adware since then.”

The thread has 344 points and is 89% upvoted, showing the sentiment is shared by many users.

At present Mozilla is only recommending one of 3 possible extensions: Facebook Container, youtube Enhance, and Google Translate and the pop-up only appears when you click on the Recommendations bar, but users are still not happy with the direction the company is moving, which appears to be about extracting more money from their user base.
