Google Stadia games will not cost less than their physical console counterparts, Google has revealed.
With thecloud gaming service launching exclusively through a subscription format until 2020, many thought that games would be slightly cheaper than console releases, much like on PC. With Stadia trying to merge both subscriptions and standalone purchases into one service, it would make sense.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Stadia chief Phil Harrison revealed that Stadia games will cost the same as on Xbox One and PS4. They will not be cheaper.
“I don’t know why it would be cheaper,” Harrison told Eurogamer.
Instead, Harrison believes that the value you get from Stadia’s play anywhere functionality, despite that not being in effect at launch, is worth more than console prices.
“The value you get from the game on Stadia means you can play it on any screen in your life – TV, PC, laptop, tablet, phone,” Harrison said. “I think that is going to be valuable to players.”

Harrison didn’t confirm just how much Stadia games would cost. While they definitely won’t be cheaper than traditional console games, he wouldn’t reveal whether they cost more or less.
“It’s a bit difficult for me to say what the prices will be right now,” Harrison revealed. “But, we’re obviously going to be very aware of prevailing prices in the marketplace.”
