PlayStation has announced that they will not be attending the gigantic gaming trade show E3 2019. This leaves Microsoft as the only console manufacturer to have an official conference at the convention.
Sony’s decision to leave E3 behind comes just a couple of months after their cancellation of PlayStation Experience, their PlayStation-only conference. With this generation assuredly coming to an end, it would appear that Sony is, understandably, all out of games to announce.
PlayStation’s official statement on the matter is as follows:
“As the industry evolves, Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to look for inventive opportunities to engage the community. PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.”
Microsoft and Sony are both one-hundred-percent working on the successors to their current generation consoles. After such a strong first-party lineup this generation, it would appear that Sony is saving up their newer games for the PS5 instead of the PS4.
There’s no telling how big Microsoft’s 2019 conference will be or if Microsoft will be attending the show at all. Hopefully, with this be one of the final years for this generation, Microsoft sends the Xbox One out with a huge blast.
