SoftBank announces $108 billion Vision Fund 2 with participation from Microsoft and others

SoftBank Group today officially announced the “SoftBank Vision Fund 2”. Like the previous Vision Fund, the Vision Fund 2 will make investment in market-leading, tech-enabled growth companies. Based on the MoUs signed with various companies, SoftBank mentioned that the total expected contribution of capital to the Fund has reached $108 billion. Microsoft will be participating in this fund along with Apple, Foxconn and others.

With this investment, Microsoft is expecting SoftBank Group to encourage startups to start using Microsoft cloud services including Azure.
