After many years of pretty good support, Slack is finally pulling the plug on their Windows Phone app.

In a message in the app, after the latest update to versionĀ 2018.614.0.0, the company posted a message in the app saying:

Saying goodbye to Windows Phone.

This will be the last version of Slack for Windows Phone. It comes with improvements – like bug fixes and better file handling – and we hope it works for you, as long as you need it.

Thanks so much for your support and feedback, and for using Slack.

The message suggests the app will remain available in the store, but will simply no longer receiveĀ any further updates.

Ironically Microsoft abandoned their own platform first in April when they withdrew support for Windows Phone from Microsoft Teams, so one can really not blame Slack for also making the rational choice.

For those diehards who prefer not to switch to a better supported Microsoft platform, there are of course rumours of upcoming mobile-sized Windows 10 devices later this year which means you should be able to use the full desktop version of the app while on the go.

Are any of our readers still on Slack for Windows Phone? Let us know below.

Thanks, Sanders Lauture for the tip and screenshot.
