Want to set GPT-4 as default while using ChatGPT plus? We’ve got some good news for you.

GPT-3.5 vs GPT-4 has been the talk of the town for quite some time, but as OpenAI rolled out its August 2023 update for the AI chatbot, we may see sign that the company is pushing even harder for the latest model.

The tech maker just announced today that it will begin suggesting GPT-4 by default for paid users of its ChatGPT service. Previously, paid users could choose to use GPT-4 or GPT-3.5, but GPT-3.5 was the default option.

The switch to GPT-4 by default is a sign of OpenAI’s confidence in the capabilities of its newer model. GPT-4 is significantly larger and more powerful than GPT-3.5, and it has been shown to be better at a variety of tasks, including generating text, translating languages, and writing different kinds of creative content.

The change will be rolled out “over the next week,” says the company. If you want to access GPT-4, you can subscribe to ChatGPT Plus for $20 per month.

If you remember, OpenAI launched GPT-4 back in early 2023 and has been the backbone for a much superior version of ChatGPT since then. GPT-4 can understand and complete even more complex tasks with greater creativity. It can even pass standardized tests like the SAT and bar exams.

In addition, GPT-4 can process multimodal data, such as images. This means that you do things like uploading a picture of your fridge and asking the chatbot to create a recipe based on the contents of the picture.

Besides that, the company also rolled out a few exciting updates, including prompt examples to ease you in getting started, and it will also keep you logged in the chat for more than two weeks.

What are your thoughts on the latest development in GPT-3.5 vs GPT-4? Do you think OpenAI is making a good move by letting you set GPT-4 as default model for paid users? Let us know in the comments!
