Want to be able to send DM on Threads? Well, direct messaging is reportedly coming to Meta’s Twitter rival app real soon.

According to a leaked 13-page document initially reported by Business Insider, several upcoming features have been identified as “coming soon,” including trends and topics, improved search functionality, and private messaging.

The document also provides details on proposed taglines for Threads, features for creators, the inclusion of photos and videos, reposting and quoting content, privacy controls, and more.

“We don’t have a lot to share yet, but we’re working on improvements creators have shared in feedback,” the document reads.

The leak comes as Threads is gaining popularity. In its first week of launch, the app racked up about over 100 million sign-ups in the first five days. This makes it one of the fastest-growing social media apps in history, although in its earliest development, Threads was designed as a Snapchat-like app that focuses on visuals instead of microblogging.

The report presents a contradiction to previous statements made by Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram. Mosseri had stated that direct messages (DMs) were not part of Threads’ roadmap plan, but according to this leak, you may be able to send DM on Threads any time soon.

In addition to being hailed as the potential “Twitter killer,” Threads, however, has faced a considerable amount of controversy despite its soaring popularity.

Users have been drawing comparisons between the privacy settings of both Twitter and Threads, and it appears that the latter application may collect a larger amount of user data.

Are you excited about the feature that lets you send DM on Threads? Let us know in the comments!
