At Build 2017 Microsoft announced the Harman Kardon Invoke and also an unnamed HP smart speaker both powered by Cortana.  In the end, we only saw the Invoke being delivered and have been waiting for HP’s solution.

It turns out another company beat HP to the starting line, with Xiaomi announcing the Yeelight Voice Assistant.  The Echo Dot-sized device will apparently feature both Alexa and Cortana and will cost only 99 Yuan or around $30 USD, going on sale on the 31st January.

It features a 2-watt speaker with 6 microphones with long-range voice activation over a 5-metre distance.

It is not known if the device will be available outside China, but given that Cortana is much stronger in USA and some Yeelight products such as smart lights are available in the United States this does seem likely.
