Sea of Thieves’ upcoming Shrouded Spoils update has just been detailed.

This big update will launch after the game’s Festival of the Dammed Halloween event – spooky.

The Shrouded Spoils will bring with it a new fog system, adding some much-needed atmosphere to the world. The introduction of fog will change Sea of Thieves’ gameplay up quite dramatically; players will have to work harder to avoid obstacles like large rocks and hidden landmasses. Those who like to camp up on the crow’s nest will be able to look over the fog to help guide their crew.

Players should expect further customization for their ships, too. Cannons, wheels, capstans and more will now have the option to be modified. There will be special options for Pirate Legends as well.

The Shrouded Spoils will drop sometime in November, and Rare has promised an even bigger update to follow – one which will be shown off at XO18.

Sea of Thieves is currently on sale for $38.99 or £32.95. It’s also available on Xbox Game Pass.
