Back in 2014, Microsoft acquired popular game Minecraft for a hefty $2.5 billion which surprised fans and enthusiasts. Now, Microsoft finally revealed the main reason for buying Minecraft: HoloLens. According to the company’s CEO, the company was working on HoloLens back in 2014 – they need a game for the HoloLens and Minecraft is probably the perfect game for augmented reality headsets like the HoloLens. Satya Nadella said:

“Let’s have a game that, in fact, will fundamentally help us change new categories. HoloLens was very much in the works then, and we knew it.”
