Samsung’s latest flagship S9 and S9 Plus sure do come with plenty of new features and enhancements. However, there’s one thing they lack, FM Radio. While you might think that no-one will use a radio in 2018, there are still people who prefer that option.

Samsung has always skipped FM Radio in their devices especially the unlocked ones. However, this is set to change as Samsung announced a partnership with NextRadio to bring back the FM Radio. Since these days devices already include the FM Radio chip a software update from the OEM’s side should enable it without any issue. In fact, the carrier versions of the devices already have the feature enabled, suggesting on this occasion the omission from the unlocked devices was an error.

The company hasn’t shared when the update will roll out for the devices but it will happen soon. Once the update is installed, users will be able to use FM Radio on S9 and S9 Plus to listen to radio broadcasts when they do not wish to use their data plan, are out of range of cell towers, or need to listen to emergency broadcasts.
