Samsung's new Portable SSD X5 packs Thunderbolt 3 and NVMe technology in an attractive design

Samsung today announced the new Portable SSD X5, its first NVMe-based portable SSD that offers great data transfer speeds. According to Samsung, this new X5 takes advantage of NVMe and Thunderbolt 3 technologies to offer a read speed of up to 2,800 MB/s, which is up to 5.2 times faster than the normal portable SSDs and up to 25.5 times faster than HDDs. It also offers the fastest maximum write speed of 2,300 MB/s.

Apart from its performance, Samsung has also focused on creating a great design for this SSD. The X5 features a full-metal body with a glossy finish and non-slip bottom mat. There is a shock-resistant internal frame and rugged metal housing that can withstand accidental drops of up to two meters. There is also a Dynamic Thermal Guard technology and a heat sink that protects the X5 from overheating. You can use the included ‘Samsung Portable SSD Software’ for AES 256-bit hardware data encryption.
