Samsung has been working on a foldable phone for years, and it may just be on the cusp of releasing it. According to a new report, the Samsung Galaxy F might be due to release with neither Gorilla Glass nor any form of reinforced glass equipped including the cheaper dragon trail. this is because of the flexible nature of the display outpaces the glass from these companies.
Samsung will instead be using a polyimide from Japan’s Sumitomo Chemical as a substitute. While this polyimide material will offer some of the benefits of Gorilla Glass its main advantage will lie in its flexibility which would make up for its relative lack of durability.
Samsung is reportedly announcing this device in November at its developer conference, but may release it for sale later in 2019. The early announcement apparently, being for bragging rights.
