After unveiling the SmartThings Find feature, Samsung may be working towards launching an object tracker.

A new device called Galaxy Smart Tag has been spotted on the Indonesian Telecom Certification. The device has a model number EI-T5300, and that’s all the certification site tells us about the product. However, SamMobile speculates that this could be the company’s upcoming tile-like object tracker.

If SamMobile‘s speculation turns out to be true, Samsung will join Apple, another company that is reportedly working on its own tile-like object tracker. While Apple AirTag will be Apple’s first object tracker device, Samsung released its first LTE-enabled tracker two years ago.

Details about the upcoming Galaxy Smart Tag are not known, but the product might include some useful connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, GPS features, LTE, UWB.  Again, these are all speculations as these are not coming from an official source.

The fact that it got the approval from the Indonesian Telecom site suggests that the launch date may be near. We might see Samsung launching this product alongside the Galaxy S21. It’d be interesting to see whether or not Galaxy Smart Tag is used as the official name for the product.
