Samsung has rolled out a new Android Pie beta update for Galaxy S9/S9 Plus users. The new beta update brings support for dockless DeX which means there will be no need for a wired DeX dock moving forward.

Till now, DeX required a dedicated DeX dock as well as an HDMI cable to connect and use but with the new update, users will be able to just use the HDMI to USB Type-C connector and use DeX. The feature was first spotted by invmini from the SamCentral Discord and he shared a video demonstrating the feature as well.

The good thing is the hardware of Galaxy S9 and Note 9 is almost the same so there’s a fair chance that the feature will make it to the public release later on. The feature was tested on Galaxy S9 Plus but considering the hardware similarities, it should be available for S9 as well. For now, we can just wait and hope that Samsung announces an official beta program for Android Pie so users don’t have to install the leaked one.
