image Rovio originally released Angry Birds in 2009, but Windows Phone users had to wait till 2011 for the hit game to show up on our platform. Four years later and it seems not much has changed, as it seems the first real sequel to the game will not be coming to Windows Phone., at least initially. When asked about the game coming to Windows Phone Rovio’s support said:

Hey, and thanks for contacting us! Unfortunately, Angry Birds 2 will not be released for Windows Phones. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and hope that you have a chance to play the game on one of the supported platforms, such as Android or iOS! Best regards, Pekka Rovio Support Team

Update: The news has been confirmed by Peter Vesterbacka, Angry Birds Mighty Eagle.

Hopefully this is one issue a billion Windows 10 PCs will be able to address over the next few years as Microsoft’s Universal App platform gains traction. Thanks Buster for the tip.
