Windows 10 Task Bar Search

In the recently released Windows 10 Build 9879, you don’t have any explicit option to enable search bar in the Task bar. However, you can enable it with a registry hack. You need to perform the below steps to enable hidden search box in Windows 10 Build 9879,

  1. Open regedit
  2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionSearch
  3. Inside the search key, create the new DWORD value named EnableSearchBox and set it to 1
  4. Restart your computer or simply Explorer Shell

After restart, you will notice the new search box in the task bar. The important thing to note before enabling this Search bar is that it is not fully functional yet. It hangs every time when someone tries to use it.
