Key notes
- Google and Samsung unify both of their sharing apps, Nearby Share and Quick Share.
- Quick Share is now the built-in option for sharing files between your Android & Chromebook.
- There’s also an interesting update for Android Auto, new Fast Pair support for Chromecast, and more.
Android and Samsung have now joined forces for universal file transfer, just like the Snapdragon Seamless that was released last year. The two tech giants finally unify both of their sharing apps, Nearby Share and Quick Share, into one single flag of Quick Share.
Quick Share is now the go-to, built-in option for sharing anything between your Android, Chromebook, and soon, even your Windows PC as a pre-installed app (thanks to Google and LG). It will also be available on devices that currently support Nearby Share, starting next month.
Besides, the tech giant also rolled out an important piece of update for Chromecast. Fast Pair, the lightning-fast way to connect your Bluetooth headphones, lands on Chromecast with Google TV next month
Plus, with audio output controls, you can seamlessly switch back to TV sound whenever you want. 660 million pairings and counting. You can even do live streams for your TikTok from your TV.
Still coming hot at CES 2024, Google also announced a lot of exciting updates to its Android Auto app.
Google is also joining forces with Matter, a new standard making all your smart devices speak the same language. Soon, select LG TVs and other Google Home devices will act as hubs, letting you control everything from lights to locks with just the Google Home app.
