Ubergizmo had some hands-on time with the new Samsung Galaxy S3, which of course has breath-taking specs like a Quadcore processor and 1 GB of RAM, but interestingly found that the handset still suffered from the “Android thing”, writing:

In terms of system responsiveness, it is good, but not “groundbreaking” when compared to other fast Android handsets. I think that this is mainly an Android “thing”, so there’s not much that Samsung can do about this. Android 4.0 improved the UI responsiveness by quite a bit, but in my opinion, iOS and Windows Phone are still more responsive to user input.

I imagine when Windows Phone 8 gets running on the same hardware, as the rumours suggest, it will become even more clear that speeds and feeds can never really make it for poor design.

See Ubergizmo’s preview of the handset here.
