Privacy enthusiasts don’t like the fact that they are being monitored 24/7 by a giant corporation like Google. The company owns more than 95 percent of the smartphone market, thanks to Android. Aside from catapulting Google to the no.1 position in the smartphone platforms war, Android helped Google to promote their own apps and services without any trouble. While some of these apps and services are a hit and no alternatives come close, privacy enthusiasts prefer the Google-free Android over the current form and the dream is about to become true.

The Google-free Android is all set to become a reality. Developer Gaël Duval and the /e/ Foundation have successfully developed /e/ operating system. Based on Android, the main USP of the OS, yes you guessed it right, is that it doesn’t share data with Google. The /e/ OS doesn’t come with pre-installed Google apps, making the whole thing more appealing. These smartphones, according to /e/ foundation, will be “grade A” phones and will come with a 1-year warranty.

The OS, however, isn’t actually new as the first public beta released last year. Surprisingly, it didn’t get the same exposure as it getting now.

The plan here is to sell refurbished Android smartphone with /e/ operating system. Samsung Galaxy S7 w/32GB, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge w/32GB, Samsung Galaxy S9 w/64GB, Samsung Galaxy S9+ w/64GB will be the first few devices to be refurbished with the new /e/. You can visit the official website of the foundation to know more information.
