Potentially NSFW app makes its way onto Windows Phone 7

iKamaSutra, the first app containing potentially NSFW content to be certified for the Windows 7 marketplace, has been released. As well as listing the various sexual positions included in the classic Indian text, the app tracks the user’s experiences and offers Facebook and Twitter integration to give real-time social network updates regarding positions used.

According to Microsoft’s own Windows Phone 7 certification requirements:

3.6  Adult Related Content
Content not allowed:
– Sex / Nudity – Images that are sexually suggestive or provocative
– Content that a reasonable person would consider to be adult or borderline adult content (images, text, or audio).

Could this be a slip-up on Microsoft’s part, are they considering generally accepting more risque content than before? Is the app (consisting mainly of stylized cartoon figures in various sexual positions, with descriptions) simply not considered “suggestive” or “provocative” enough to break the rules? That a version of the app has also been accepted onto the notoriously closed iOS app store may suggest the latter.
