ony Interactive Entertainment has officially acquired TeamLFG, a studio formed by the developers at Firewalk, expanding the PlayStation Studios group with a focus on multiplayer development. The announcement follows Firewalk’s upcoming competitive game, Concord, which is set to launch later this year on PlayStation 5 and PC.
TeamLFG was originally a team within Firewalk, which joined PlayStation Studios in 2023. This new acquisition formalizes their status as a standalone studio under the PlayStation brand. Led by industry veterans Tony Hsu and Ryan Ellis, the group brings experience from franchises such as Call of Duty and Destiny, and is reportedly dedicated to building large-scale multiplayer experiences.

Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, said the move reflects Sony’s investment in “exciting, genre-defining multiplayer games.” He also shared that TeamLFG will play a key role in shaping Sony’s future online offerings. Although Concord’s details are still under wraps, the studio has hinted at its ambitions by growing to over 100 employees. This will help further refine development tools in partnership with other PlayStation teams.
The acquisition signals Sony’s continuing push into live-service games, balancing its strong single-player lineup with a more competitive, online-focused strategy. TeamLFG’s integration marks another step in Sony’s evolving first-party content approach.
