After releasing its first patch that focused on performance optimization, the Xbox Game Preview version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has now been updated to give players the ability to play Squad mode without the need to matchmake.
The game’s official Twitter announced this morning, “Xbox players, we will be deploying a patch at 3AM PST / 12PM CET to allow you to enjoy Squad mode in all the ways possible. You will now be able to play Squad mode as a 1, 2, or 3-man squad without having to matchmake with other players.”
Squad is a gameplay type where teams of players are pitted against each other, instead of the typical free-for-all where anyone can kill anyone. Now groups of 1 to 3 people won’t have to deal with the matchmaking process in order to play.
Another patch released yesterday that addressed one of the lower frequency crashes and reduced intermittent in-game lag. Over on the PUBG forums, the team said that they have remained committed to fixing priority bugs and are listening to community feedback. Be sure to keep an eye out for any new updates the developer pushes out.
You can pick up PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds from the Microsoft Store for $29.99. It’s still in rough shape compared to its PC counterpart, but the developer is continually working to make the Xbox experience better for everyone.
