Nvidia launched its GeForce RTX 5090 & 5080 not too long ago at CES 2025, and now, it seems like gamers aren’t waiting for too long to get their hands on these bad boys with 8K gaming potential.
As the January 30, 2025 release date for Nvidia’s hotly-hyped graphics cards approaches, folks are already camping outside Micro Center stores across the US in anticipation of limited availability. With reports of tents set up at the retailer’s Tustin, California location, enthusiasts are braving chilly weather.
The higher-end RTX 5090 is priced at $1,999/ยฃ1,939, while its more pocket-friendly RTX 5080 variant has a price tag of $999/ยฃ979. Nvidia is also reportedly considering retroactively upgrading RTX 3000 GPUs to support Frame Generation, thanks to a new AI-based solution.
The RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs are expected to face powerful demand due to their high performance, but third-party suppliers like MSI are struggling to meet production targets. Micro Center, a popular destination for PC builders, has previously acknowledged the supply shortage and will use a voucher system to avoid chaos.
The RTX 5090, powered by the Blackwell architecture, promises to deliver a big performance boost over its predecessor, the RTX 4090, especially with its DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation capabilities. But its power-hungry design, with a 575W TDP and high heat output, will need you to have high-end systems with adequate cooling.
The GeForce RTX 50 Series also brought new AI smarts for creators, reducing latency by up to 75% with NVIDIA Reflex 2, and gives you new capabilities for generative AI, video encoding, and even 3D rendering.
