Overkill’s The Walking Dead has been canceled on consoles, according to Sony.
In an email to Reddit user u/PirateBlankFoul, an announcement email was sent out detailing information regarding The Walking Dead’s cancellation.
“The publisher has notified us that the game is canceled,” Sony wrote. “As a result, we have withdrawn the current pre-order from the PlayStation Store and will cancel all pre-orders. You will receive a refund to your original payment source within 5-7 business days.”
For those who pre-ordered the game on a deleted or expired payment option, the refund will be issued to your PSN wallet.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead has seen a rocky release since last year. Due to poor sales, the game pushed publisher Starbreeze into reconstruction with the console port being put on hold.
While Starbreeze and Overkill haven’t personally announced the game’s cancellation, Sony’s confirmation is a solid basis to run off. For now, consider the game officially canceled.
For fans of The Walking Dead, there’s still the continuation of Telltale’s The Final Season to look forward to. For huge zombie fans, there’s also World War Z coming to consoles rather soon.
