Microsoft focused heavily on security at its Ignite 2016 conference this afternoon. The company today announced Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection, Windows Defender Application Guard, and more. Along with these big announcements, Microsoft made a small announcement regarding Outlook on Android and iOS which is also very important. According to Microsoft, Outlook is now fully powered by Microsoft Cloud for all Office 365 commercial users. Essentially, this means that your Exchange Online mailboxes are supported natively on the Outlook app on your Android or iOS smartphone — removing the need for Outlook to cache the mailboxes outside Office 365.

While this may not sound like a major improvement, it is quite an important improvement as it will provide a more secure experience for Office 365 uses. It isn’t clear if this is already live for Outlook on Android and iOS, but it should be available sometime soon.
