Oculus today announced a huge price cut for its Rift headset and Touch controllers. The company is cutting the price of the Oculus Rift by $100, and the Touch’s price is also going down by $99. Due to the price cut, the whole Oculus Rift bundle now costs only $598. That’s $200 less than the initial price of the Oculus Rift. In fact, the Oculus Rift itself cost $599 in the past while the Touch controllers cost $199. But now, the bundle costs only $598. It is worth noting that you will still have to buy the Oculus Sensor, which cost $59 each — so the cost of the whole system is still quite high if you want to try out virtual reality.

In a blog post, Oculus stated:

We’re coming up on the one-year anniversary of shipping Rift, and the quality of content, the breadth of experiences, and the commitment from the developer community have never been stronger. As we look to the year ahead, we’re focused on driving the industry forward by bringing VR to more people with the best products and the leading VR content line-up.
