O2 Uk ready to roll out WP8.1 to all Lumias, just waiting for Microsoft

On O2’s support forums Chris from their social media team has announced that they carrier has completed all testing of the WP8.1 update for all their Lumia handsets.

He writes:

1520 owners (and other Lumias too), the update is on the way. The software has already been approved by us and is awaiting being pushed out to handsets – something we’re afraid we’re unable to speed up or flick a switch on.

We hope to get a heads up shortly before these updates go live but with the amount of updates Nokia have (all their Lumia devices, all the different network variants, all the networks in all the countries in all the continents…) it’s possible the updates for ‘x’ Lumia device could be released before we know so please for the time being, keep an eye on your device which will alert you when an update is available.

I suspect Microsoft is rolling out the update one handset at a time to allow them to detect unexpected bugs, so it is likely the 1520 will once again be first, but it is good to know that O2 is not unnecessary delaying the process.
