With the demise of Groove Music Microsoft has been testing Spotify integration with Cortana with Windows 10 Insiders on RS4.

Now it appears Microsoft has flipped the switch and enabled this feature to all Windows 10 users on Redstone 2 and Redstone 3. The main pre-requisite, as usual, appears to be that your Cortana language needs to be set to US-English. This will enable the Music entry in your Cortana notebook, where you will be offered the option to connect to Spotify.

The feature works relatively well with both free and subscription Spotify accounts, and most importantly above the lock screen, meaning that if you wanted an Amazon Echo merely to play voice-controlled music this may well fill that spot without too much issue.
