Are you not impressed with the current set of Nokia Windows Phones? Are they too conformist for your tastes? According to Nokia’s statement to TechRadar, Windows Phone Apollo is when Nokia’s agreement with Microsoft will be taken full advantage of.
Nokia first summarizes that their Lumia devices are not significantly different because “they cannot fragment the developer ecosystem”, a problem that Android currently has (TechRadar).
However, Nokia can modify elements such as “design, navigation, imaging, and… distribution” (TechRadar). One way they are going to make changes in the future is helping Microsoft bring prices of Windows Phones down, since they “have a lot of engineering expertise [Microsoft doesn’t] have” (TechRadar).
The bigger changes in Nokia Windows Phones will be seen “when the Apollo version of Windows Phone comes out” (TechRadar). Therefore, we can expect more interesting Nokia Windows Phones in the future.
Currently, Nokia only has two Windows Phones, the Lumia 710 and Lumia 800, which are both very similar to the Windows Phones announced by HTC and Samsung.
