The Nokia Maps 3.0 app’s user manual has leaked, giving us a good peek at the feature set of this GPS Navigation app which is expected to come to all Windows Phone handsets eventually.

Features include:

• Find your way with turn-by-turn directions and voice guidance
• Track your location, speed, and the distance driven, even if not navigating
• Preload maps before travelling and use Nokia Drive offline to save data costs
• Save your most-used destinations to your phone
• Get a warning when you exceed the speed limit
• Get real-time info on traffic incidents and conditions on your daily routes using My Commute

Nokia has emphasized that with the 3.0 update they intend to work at making GPS Navigation not just useful for going to places where you don’t know the destination, but also places where you do know the area, for example giving travel advice on your daily commute. This will not just benefit the driver, but also provide Nokia with a tremendous data stream of traffic conditions, driving speeds, popular routes and updated mapping data, and ultimately open the door for location based advertising and commerce, which should be a win-win for all concerned.

Of course with Windows Phone 8 allowing GPS apps to run in the background the usefulness of such a feature has just increased exponentially, making it a rather compelling part of the Windows Phone 8 upgrade.
